JURY CONVICTS GOSNELL MAN OF RAPE

BLYTHEVILLE, AR – Scott Ellington, Prosecuting Attorney for the Second Judicial District of Arkansas, announced Thursday that Mississippi County jurors convicted Freddie Sharp III, 29, of Gosnell, of the rape of 11 year old Jessica Williams, also of Gosnell. The jury returned its verdict late Thursday afternoon.

Circuit Judge Cindy Thyer sentenced Sharp to 25 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

Ellington expressed his gratitude for the hard work of the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department, the Arkansas State Police, and Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys Curtis Walker, Gina Knight and William Thompson of Blytheville.

Sharp was remanded to the custody of Mississippi County Sheriff Dale Cook while awaiting transport to the state penitentiary.
