Paragould Child Rapist Sentenced to Prison

PARAGOULD, AR, September 9, 2015 – Scott Ellington, Prosecuting Attorney for the Second Judicial District of Arkansas, announced Wednesday that Brian Thomas Lowe, 26, of Paragould, was found guilty of rape during a bench trial held on this date. The decision was returned late Wednesday afternoon.

Circuit Judge Barbara Halsey sentenced Lowe to 25 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

Ellington said, “Mr. Lowe will no longer be able to abuse the victim in this case, or any other child. I commend the work of Sgt. Rhonda Thomas and the Paragould Police Department for acting quickly in this situation.

“I’m also appreciative of the work put in by Greene County Deputy Prosecutor Adam Butler in this matter. The victim’s family is happy with the conviction and sentencing in this matter.”

History of the Case:

On May 23, 2014, the Paragould Police Department responded to a disturbance at a residence located inside the city limits of Paragould. Upon arrival, they were told that a juvenile had been sexually assaulted by Lowe.

The juvenile was interviewed that day, and disclosed conduct by Lowe that would constitute rape by statute.
