TRUMANN, ARK. – November 8, 2013 – Second Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington announced Friday that he has found Trumann Police Lt. Gary Henry justified in shooting Jacob Brown, 22, of Trumann on October 22.

Ellington released his two page findings letter to the news media Friday in which he detailed the chain of events on the afternoon of October 22 that led to law enforcement officers engaging in a foot pursuit with Brown in Trumann and the ultimate shooting and injuring of Brown.

“This is certainly an unfortunate event, but the actions of Jacob Brown that day threatened the lives of law enforcement officers,” Ellington said. “My review concludes that Lt. Henry was justified in using deadly force to defend himself and Detective Jared Cook from Mr. Brown and his gun, and that no further review of this matter is necessary.”
