PROSECUTOR CONCLUDES MEADOW VIEW SHOOTING JUSTIFIED
JONESBORO, ARK. – Scott Ellington, Prosecuting Attorney for the Second Judicial District of Arkansas, announced Wednesday that he has found Jonesboro Police Cpl. John Eidson justified in shooting and killing Michael Ware, 35, of Keiser on January 9, in a Jonesboro mobile home park.
Ellington released his four page findings letter Thursday in which he detailed the chain of events that led to law enforcement officers being dispatched to the Meadow View Mobile Home Park, 4303 Aggie Road, on January 9. As officers attempted to make contact with Ware, he opened fire on Cpl. John Eidson. The officer returned fire on Ware during the altercation, ultimately killing the suspect.
“Cpl. Eidson is a hero, as his quick instinct eliminated the danger of Mr. Ware to his fellow officers and seven innocent bystanders, including four children,” Ellington said. “Mr. Ware’s actions that day threatened the lives and safety of officers and those inside the mobile home. This matter is considered justified and closed with no further need for review.”
